As a foodie, I’m naturally always on the hunt to eat at the most delicious spots anytime I travel somewhere new. We are exploring Belgrade this month!
Belgrade is a unique city especially for globe trotters! There are a variety of restaurants that cater to everyone. Whether you’re up for trying traditional Serbian dishes like ćevapi and sarma in a cozy setting or you’re into chic restaurants offering a mix of international and fusion cuisines, this city has got you covered. So, if you’re a foodie ready to taste new flavors or just someone looking for a fun dining experience, let’s embark on a tasty adventure together to uncover my go-to restaurants in this lively Serbian capital!
Eating well in the city is extremely accessible. For a Michelin-starred meal, the cost ranges from USD $30 to $80 for a multi-course tasting menu. When it comes to wine pairing, go for Serbian options. Though not globally famous, local wines perfectly complement your meal with their delicious, full-bodied flavors. Give them a try!
Don’t forget to try rakija in Serbia! It’s a famous Serbian brandy that’s a must-try. It can be made it with a variety of fruits – grape, apricot, plum, but beware, it’s 40% proof. My favourite is apricot! But honey is the most dangerous one.
Angry Monk

Angry Monk isn’t your typical sushi spot. The vibe is inspired by the bustling cities of Tokyo and Kyoto, and their cocktails and service are top-notch. Their menu? Think of it as a food journey that’s been perfected through tons of lessons in Japan, using the best local ingredients! Their spicy chicken wonton, pork spareribs and chicken teriyaki skewers are my go-to. Also, you can’t go wrong with any of their unique cocktails. It’s a fun and unique experience you can’t miss for a great night out in Belgrade!

Josephine Belgrade

Josephine Belgrade is a contemporary cocktail bar and restaurant that draws inspiration from the glamorous Art Deco era of the 1920s. My favourite discovery about this spot is that it pays homage to the iconic Josephine Baker, a trailblazing figure of that time. Josephine Baker was not just a flapper; she was a civil rights champion, a spy, and the first woman of color to achieve global fame in an era when it was a rarity. Their mini truffle burgers, prime cuts and carbonara paired with their remarkable specialty cocktails and wines as well as the lovely ambience are your ticket to the best night out!

Comunale Belgrade

Let’s talk Comunale – the chic hotspot at Breton Hala! Picture this: what used to be an abandoned storage area by the Belgrade Pier is now a buzzing hub of cool eateries overlooking the Sava River.
Comunale pioneered the trendy makeover of Breton Hala with a focus on perfecting Italian cuisine. Think mouthwatering pizzas, creamy risottos, and a dash of local Serbian wine to take their amazing pasta with truffles to a whole new level. Trust me, it’s a flavor-packed adventure you won’t want to miss!

Toro Latin Gastrobar
It’s all about Pan Latin flavors and styles, and it’s run by the culinary genius Chef-owner Richard Sandoval. He’s got quite the resume, including being named Bon Appétit Restaurateur of the Year and earning Mexico’s prestigious Toque d’Oro award.

What’s on the menu? TORO serves up a bunch of small plates loaded with the vibrant tastes of South and Central America, perfect for sharing with your food-loving crew. And the drinks? They’re pure artistry, with creative cocktails, Latin wines, and a variety of spirits that’ll make you want to savor every sip!

Belgrade Kitchen Party

A slightly different experience from a dine-in restaurant. Here, you cook your own food – think Sur La Table in the United States. Usually biased towards SLT because I love their classes however, the food at the Belgrade Kitchen Party surely takes the trophy. They host different themed nights at the kitchen ranging from burger party to night in the dark. In addition, the head chefs are lovely and make the experience hilarious and light.
We had a girls’ night here and we got to make three different burgers. They were so good – the truffle burger was my favourite. Check out their Instagram for their calendar.

Bucko
Serbian pizza is a must-try, especially after a night of partying in Belgrade! Bucko Pizza, near the Tesla Museum, is a cozy pizzeria loved by locals.

Imagine this: pizza slices with unique toppings on a crispy crust. I’m talking chicken salad, tuna salad, Russian salad, and more! It might sound unusual, but trust me, these flavors will blow your mind when you take a bite. Bucko Pizza is where late-night cravings turn into a mouthwatering experience!
Smokvica

In the world of Smokvica, four friends shared a dream: to open a restaurant where everyone could gather and savor life’s moments to the fullest. It has a cozy Provencal vibe, where everyone, no matter their age or cravings, can find their happy place. Whether you’re into sipping good coffee, chilling with a fresh mint lemonade in the garden, or devouring a vibrant and scrumptious breakfast, they’ve got you covered. This tucked away gem is a must visit when you’re in Belgrade.
P.s. their fresh juices are phenomenal!

Lorenzo & Kakalamba
This beloved Italian & Serbian eatery in Belgrade, is all about fantastic food and a wonderfully quirky ambiance. It’s known for its eccentric and colorful vibe, making it a fun spot. Their menu offers a wide range of Italian and Serbian dishes, and they’ve got a great selection of wines too. My favourite dishes are Pacceri “Al Pacino” and Shushpe. Their locals love it, and tourists can’t resist. Don’t skip this foodie gem when you’re in Belgrade!
