Yes. An entire post dedicated to chicken and waffles because my friends claim it’s surely about to start growing out of my head. I remember the first time I had chicken and waffles…it was like I finally found a piece of myself I’d been looking for. If you’re not familiar with the magical concept that’s chicken and waffles, I want to assure you that 1) you’re missing out on something big and 2) you’ve come to the right place to find the best spot.
I’m about to introduce you to the greatest discovery since sliced bread, I hope you’re as excited as I am! For my chicken and waffle veterans, welcome!
Taste Bar + Kitchen

I have to start off with my favorite. You simply can’t talk about good chicken and waffles in Houston without mentioning this spot. I have nothing but good things to say about the food here. Picture a red velvet waffle. Sounds yum right? Now top that with the perfect Nashville Hot Chicken…add in a Lavender Blueberry Margarita…my days, I’m on cloud 9 every time. They have chocolate chip, cornbread, cinnamon toast crunch waffles, amongst many other fun options! You can pair any of those with Cajun Chicken, General Tso’s, Jerk Chicken and a few other options.
Read recently that plans are in the works to open another location in Sugar Land! I will keep you posted on that!
What Mo Recommends: Nashville hot chicken with red velvet & vanilla waffles. The cotton candy, superstar sangria, and of course lavender blueberry margarita are my favorite cocktails. Be sure to try them out!
Mo’s Tip: I recommend reserving a table because the line can be up to 3 hours long for walk-ins.

The Breakfast Klub

You might have noticed the ridiculously long line wrapped around the lot of the yellow building downtown at ALL times of the day. Well that building is The Breakfast Klub and I can assure you it’s absolutely worth the wait. While it’s not all it serves, it’s famous for its wings and waffles. The wings and waffles never miss the mark. Wings always perfectly seasoned and buttery waffles with the perfect crunch. every. time.
They also have a location in Terminal A at George Bush Intercontinental Airport and it’s just as tasty!
What Mo Recommends: Get the wings and waffles, you won’t be disappointed.
Mo’s Tip: Be sure to get there early and be patient!

Lucille’s

They have the best Southern brunch and put a Southern twist on the chicken and waffle combo. I love other items on their brunch menu – the oxtail omelette is amazing BUT we’re here to talk about chicken and waffles so back to that!
It’s a sweet potato waffle paired with brined and slow fried chicken. The bourbon and pecan infused maple syrup is the perfect topping although it doesn’t even need any syrup to make it tasty.
What Mo Recommends: Fried chicken with sweet potato waffles or croissant french toast, if you have a sweet tooth like me.
Mo’s Tip: Be sure to make reservations especially over the weekend!

Bisou

I’m sometimes a little skeptical of trying chicken and waffles at restaurants with lots on their menu but I’m definitely a fan! The chicken was crispy and well seasoned. The waffles were warm and crispy with just the right amount of sweetness. It’s paired with potatoes and fresh fruit. I’m a sucker for fresh fruit so I loved that.
I’m also a huge fan of the elegant style and decor of Bisou. It’s located in the River Oaks District so it’s only right that it’s as posh as it is! Will definitely recommend this for brunch with a group in Houston!
What Mo Recommends: Fried chicken and waffle with a side of bisou potatoes. For drinks, get the bellinis.
Mo’s Tip: Make reservations for guaranteed seating.

Jupiter’s Pizza and Waffle

Like Taste Bar, Jupiter’s goes beyond the generic chicken and waffle combo. They have both sweet and savory waffles. From the Dulce De Leche or Oreo Speedwagon to the Pull-itzer or the Sure-e, whether you have a sweet tooth or are a lover of all things savory, you’re sure to find a combo that you’ll love!
Their mission is to serve delicious, affordable comfort food and that’s exactly what they do!
What Mo Recommends: The Southern Belle and the Brunchy! Pair it with a mimosa, of course.
Mo’s Tip: It’s walk in only so be sure to get there before peak brunch time (typically between 12pm – 1pm)
