My #1 asked question is, “Where can I get the best brunch in Houston?” I know a lot of people say this but, if I had a dollar for every time I’m asked this question, I would be a thousandaire. I bet you thought I’d say millionaire but relax, I’m not that popular. Without further ado here are my favorite spots! This list includes fancy spots, family friendly spots, cheap spots and lots more! All menu items I recommend are under “What Mo Recommends” within each review! I also highlight tips for each restaurant.
Traveler’s Table

Brunch all around the world from right here in Houston? Sign me up!
At Traveler’s Table you get to experience delicious meals from all over the world. From the ridiculously amazing kimchi fried rice to the breakfast bread pudding to the Indian eggs masala, this brunch menu features dishes from all over!
I’ve been here with my girls, my family and a large group of people. It’s open to all!
What Mo Recommends: You definitely have to try the custard lava french toast and the kimchi fried rice! For my lovers of all things savory, you can’t go wrong with the Louisiana fried chicken or the hill country brisket & cornbread. I’m more of a tropical girl with my cocktails so Happy Wife, Happy Life and A Sunny Place for Shady People are my favorite!
Mo’s Tip: Be sure to make reservations!

Thirteen

You want to know who doesn’t miss? Chef Tobias Dorzon. Thirteen has been “popping” since it opened. Not just because of its upscale vibe and entertaining atmosphere but also because of its AMAZING food. Chef Tobias puts the best, unique twists on food that you just can’t resist.
It’s a good spot for brunch with a one person, group of friends or family.
What Mo Recommends: Smoked gouda grits topped with sausage, crawfish, shrimp & lobster tail. I bet you haven’t had that. Any of the three different renditions of french toast! The Cake Batter one is phenomenal. For cocktails, get the Mamba and Aphrodite cocktails.
Mo’s Tip: Get there early! It’s first come, first serve for brunch (11AM-4PM on Sundays).

Lucille’s

One thing about me, I love to dance while I eat. I’ve mentioned how obsessed I am with their chicken and waffles but Lucille’s does WAY more.
This Southern inspired restaurant provides the perfect combination of a tasty meal with the best music. If you’re on the patio, weather-permitting, you’ll get to listen to a lovely live band while you eat.
It’s the best spot to hang out with friends and have a good time.
What Mo recommends: The Oxtail Omelette or the French Toast! Get multiple mimosas while you’re at it!
Mo’s Tip: Make reservations!

Squable

A hidden gem. You can’t go wrong with anything on their menu. If you’re like me, you probably like to scroll through Instagram to see what food looks like before you order. If you’re also like me, you might see some of the food on their page and become hesitant. Let me assure you, although it might not look familiar, every single item on the menu is delicious.
I’ve gotten the dutch baby pancake at least 3 times. I’m obsessed. They also have unique cocktails like the Tomatillo Bloody Mary.
What Mo Recommends: Get 1 bread (or 2), 2-3 small plates and 1-2 large plates. This is based on 2 diners. Get the dutch baby pancake, buttermilk biscuits, hash browns, ciabatta, lè brunch burger, short rib and carbonara. For drinks, the white cosmo and champagne julep.
One of my favorite things about Squable (other than their food, of course) is how knowledgeable and friendly the servers are. You can trust your server’s recommendations!
Mo’s Tip: Make reservations at least a week in advance! Reconsider if your group is bigger than 6-8 people. It’s a smaller space.

Cultivated F+B

Ever tried an Eggs Benedict with braised ribs? No? Me neither. Located at the Lancaster Hotel and formerly popular for lunch and cocktails, Cultivated F + B launched a brunch menu and its good! The hotel was recently renovated and its very pretty.
Their menu is a good mix of brunch staples like Avocado Toast & Classic American Breakfast and unique menu items like the Braised Rib Benedict & the Lancaster Crab Cake.
It’s classy, intimate and cozy. It also has lovely outdoor seating.
What Mo Recommends: Braised rib benedict and churros with the chocolate and caramel sauces!
Mo’s Tip: Make reservations. If the weather permits, sit outside! It’s very pretty.

Common Bond Bistro & Bakery

All day brunch? Count me in! This French inspired cafe is one of my favorite cafes to visit during the week and over the weekend. For brunch, you have lots of savory, delicious options!
They have four bistro locations for dine-in, five on-the-go locations, two of which have drive thrus and recently opened a brasserie!
What Mo Recommends: French toast and bacon, hot browns and fried chicken & biscuits! Pair your meal with a carafe of mimosa or frosé!
Mo’s Tip: Leave some room because their pastries are delightful! Get the pistachio and almond croissants and the boston cream kugelhopf. I get a Kouign Amann (kween uh-man) every Sunday…I know I know, it’s bad for me, don’t judge me! I’m going to do better this year.

Taste Bar + Kitchen

Hands down, top 3 Houston restaurant with the best food and vibes. From their website, they claim to “offer globally inspired comfort foods and craft cocktails in an energetic, casual dining environment.” They do just that.
They serve multiple unique and creative chicken and waffle combos – Nashville Hot Chicken, Chicken Fried Lobster and Waffles, etc. They also serve jerk lamb chops, elevated mac and cheese, oxtails & grits…the list goes on! I’m drooling thinking about it honestly.
Their crafted cocktails are a must have! They have valet parking and a live DJ too!
It’s good for date night, night out with friends, celebrating special occasions or a casual night out!
Be prepared to leave with a happy, full tummy!
What Mo Recommends: Nashville hot chicken with red velvet waffles, a side of elevated mac and cheese with a lavender blueberry margarita.
Mo’s Tip: Make reservations! Park with valet if you get there later in the day (after 6pm) because street parking can be difficult.

State Fare Kitchen and Bar

Comfort American breakfast for you and the family. The type of breakfast that sends you (& your family) straight to bed. Think brunch burgers with spicy brown sugar bacon and hash browns, grilled cheese, chicken fried steak, XXL buttermilk griddle cake…need I go on?
Their menu is extensive and they have large portions! You can most likely find whatever you’re craving on their menu!
I love how casual and relaxed the atmosphere is. It’s the perfect spot for families with children! They have two locations! One in Memorial City and one in Sugarland.
What Mo Recommends: The banana stuffed french toast with a side of spicy brown sugar bacon! The frozen cocktail flight for drinks!

a’Bouzy

Bubbles anyone? The wine and champagne list is extensive with prices ranging from $12-$2000!
This chic spot is perfect for a date or brunch with a group of friends!
What Mo Recommends: Their corned beef brisket hash, brioche french toast, eggs Benny, pommes frites and pastries with a glass (or 5) of mimosa.
Mo’s Tip: If you’re dining with a group and want a light brunch, the Prosecco Picnic is for you. It includes a charcuterie board, croissant service, deviled eggs, pastries and few other items for 8-12 guests. Best part? You get a bottle of prosecco for every 3 guests! Reservations are required.

The Breakfast Klub

Ever notice that constant long line on the corner of Travis and Alabama? That’s Breakfast Klub. This is the most consistent brunch spot I’ve been to in Houston. I’ve never been disappointed. Simply put, they never miss.
The line moves faster than you’d think and it’s definitely worth the wait! Their menu includes southern classics like biscuits & gravy, catfish & grits and pork chops & eggs. We can’t forget their wings & waffles! It’s all packed with flavour and I promise you won’t regret waiting in the line.
They also have a location in Terminal A of George Bush Intercontinental Airport! If you don’t get to visit while in the city, you can pick up a meal at the airport! I got the wings & waffle to-go on my last trip and everyone on that flight was jealous.
What Mo Recommends: The wings & waffle, pancakes and biskits and gravy.
Mo’s Tip: Get there early so you can beat the high traffic and get seated immediately.
