Poblenou used to be all factories but is now super trendy. It’s a great mix of old and new. It has hipster art galleries and trendy restaurants alongside reminders of its industrial past. You’ll get a real feel for Barcelona here, away from the tourist crowds, while still enjoying all the comforts and amenities of a luxurious hotel.
It’s a short 5-minute walk from the nearest tram station – Espronceda, which is pretty convenient. You can catch a train to all the major attractions in Barcelona. Majority of the most popular spots have a train/tram stop right outside or less than a 5-minute walk away.
However, Barcelona can get busy with traffic, especially during peak hours. Taxis and ride-sharing services like Uber are supposedly readily available but this was not my experience. We initially called Ubers but with 20-minute wait times, we defaulted to the train. It ended up being much cheaper and with a Barcelona Pass, you get unlimited access to the public transportation. Moreover, you get free access to 26 museums and discounted visits to the other attaractions in the city. If you plan on relying on these for your trip, request a ride at least 15 minutes in advance to avoid any delay or last-minute stress.
