“Where can I get the best brunch in Bakersfield?”. This is a question I’ve asked myself since I moved here earlier this year.
I’ll be honest, I didn’t have high hopes. However, I’m all about seeing the glass half full so I went on a quest to find good brunch. I must say, I’ve been pleasantly surprised! I will continue to update this post as I discover more gems. Without further ado (ha!), here are some spots with the best brunch in Bakersfield!
The 18hundred
First off, can we talk about the industrial chic decor of this restaurant? While still including its touches from the history this building has carried, the splash of color and the close seating that remind you of a quaint European café, bring this space to life! And the food? I think this is the best brunch I’ve had in Bakersfield. Skip to my recommendations.

I’ve managed to avoid peak times so I haven’t had to wait to be seated however, it’s a pretty small space and the wait can get up to 45 minutes so definitely join the waitlist in advance. I’m usually the person who has to get a to-go box because I never finish my food. I’m proud to tell you I demolished everything we ordered even the side salad! The waiters were nice and helpful throughout our time there. For my friends looking for Instagram worthy desserts, this is your spot! What’s more? They don’t just look good, they taste amazing! Be sure to stop by at the 18hundred soon!
What Mo Recommends: Brioche French Toast, Cali Turkey Burger, Philly Cheesesteak, Hand Battered Zucchini Fries, Bee’s Knees Latte, Cookie Monster Milkshake.
Mo’s Tip: I highly recommend joining the waitlist. It’s a small space and it gets really busy especially in the evenings and over the weekend. I would hate for you to wait 45 minutes on an empty stomach.
Moo Creamery
I can’t be the only who assumed that Moo Creamery only sold ice cream? I’d driven by it so many times and planned to stop by to get ice cream at some point until one day, I saw it listed as a brunch spot! Man am I glad I realized they also serve food! The food was delicious. Let’s not get into those shakes…so good. Skip to my recommendations.

It reminds me of Johnny Rocket’s but better! Their delicious sauces are made from scratch and are unlike anything I’ve ever tasted. Even their ketchup tastes better than regular ketchup! I know, I know, I’m dramatic but their sauces are really good! They have patio seating for you to enjoy in this lovely spring weather!
What Mo Recommends: Brisket Hash, Moo Burger, Sweet Potato fries, Thick cut honey-cured bacon and a Salted Caramel boozy shake.
Mo’s Tip: Avoid it during peak dining hours to be seated immediately. If there’s bar seating available, don’t shy away from it! I actually liked it.
Sonder
I always want to order everything off a brunch menu. It’s always so hard to decide if I’m feeling savory or sweet. I typically end up ordering multiple items because I’m so indecisive. My friend and I were pleased with everything we ordered! Skip to my recommendations.

I’m not a fan of the indoor dining space. I think it does a disservice to the restaurant. However, we dined on the patio and it was perfect! The weather, the seating, the service and the delicious meals all made our time here worth it. I had The Bako with a few additions from the Malibu. I couldn’t help myself, I have to have avocados and spinach in my omelette! It was pretty good and I bet it was because of my additions ha! Absolutely loved the peach fizz and highly recommend it as a brunch pairing.
What Mo Recommends: The Bako, the Malibu and the Monkey Bread. Get the Peach Fizz to drink!
Mo’s Tip: Reservations for outdoor patio dining are now available during select hours so be sure to make reservations if you can. However, during peak dinner hours, seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
